7 Cost Effective Methods to Grow Your Church!


Do you want your church to develop? Are you reaching the people searching for a church just like yours? Some of the people people are looking in your town for the first time and yet others for any variety of reasons are looking for a new church home.

In case your church is like many organizations, you do not have a sizable marketing budget to spend on marketing. But i am not saying there aren't things your church can do to advertise itself. All it requires is being creative by thinking a little bit out of the box to obtain some fantastic returns in your marketing budget. Here are 7 ideas that ought to help build your membership should you choose them consistently. More importantly, do them in excellence! Are these the only methods to market your church? Absolutely not!

   Send Out Press announcements REGULARLY! - Press announcements are among the biggest sources of free publicity for your church.  One of the most effective (and cheapest) ways to get your message out regarding your organizations special event or activity is to regularly provide press releases towards the the local press and radio stations. These organizations are hungry for content.  You simply need to provide it for them. Complile a summary of all of the outlets in your area.  Don't forget to try and discover who handles your portion of the paper and sent it to that person directly. Learn to write a good pr release.
   Email Signatures - The number of emails would you send out each day/week/month or year?  Many of these emails visit non church congregants.  Each of those provides an chance of just a little promotional "commercial" if you will about your church. An e-mail signature consists of text and/or pictures which are automatically added to no more an outgoing e-mail message. Email signatures are automatic and when setup require no effort or deliberation over your side. They provide a powerful opportunity for you to definitely provide your organizations website along with a tag line that promotes what your church is about.  
   Plan an occasion! An occasion held at your church can either let people know about your church and what it really means or even reinvigorate understanding of your church.  How does that actually work you ask? Special events give your current members grounds to achieve to friends/co-workers to experience your church. Things you need to remember is to make special attractions special.  Provide spacing in terms of time between events. 
   Promote a different ministry each month. Your church may very well be one large group that's made up of several smaller groups or ministries. Sometimes called Love In Action Ministries, you may have groups within your church that get together regularly which are centered on niches in your church.  Some of these groups are or could be Youth/Teens/ Men's Group, Women's Bible Study. Book Study Groups, etc. All the ministries in your church contributes in some manner to the growth and outreach of the church. Don't think that just because they groups are ongoing inside your church that everybody knows about them. Promote one group each month weekly.
   Using the web being an outreach ministry.  Now more than ever, folks are seeking to attend churches that share their values. The Internet can be one of the most valuable and price effective ways to get your church's name before other people who share your passions.  Those others can include the media, civic or community leaders. Don't retreat from helping publicize other noteworthy activities in the area either. Your church's interest/participation/promotion of these events will register with like minded individuals who will be drawn to and go to your church.  Don't have a website yet?  Think Craigslist to promote your church.

   Signage - Whether it's your church sign or roadside signs placed strategically around the area, this really is one of the best returns on investments to get your church exposure and thus visitors.  Using your church sign to serve your community is a unique and powerful means of trying. Consider announcing community events beyond those that are happening at your church, such as a neighborhood association meeting or charitable events. Let the community know of the organized activities provided by your church beyond weekly services too, such as daycare and youth group events. You may also promote your church by putting posters on bulletin boards along with other places to allow people know what events/services are available at your church. Posters which are how big a typical piece of paper (8 ½" X 11") can usually be posted in a number of places for example supermarkets, laundry mats, at other places where people gather. Get permission before you decide to set up your posters. Be considered a good neighbor!
   Postcards/flyers - In the age of the web, many wonder if this medium works. Yet for shear cost effectiveness, in your immediate area, either hand delivering or mailing a postcard in a 1 mile area around your church is difficult to beat.  What is amazing about dropping a postcard off at a home is the lingering effect along with the immediate response.  You might find results almost immediately in visits to both your church as well as your website.  There will be a diminishing return as interest from that postcard will erode over time.  But you will notice folks coming to church months after from that initial campaign. That is is a best part.  So, by systematic in rotating the areas/neighborhoods you're covering. And just because you delivered a postcard inside a neighborhood previously, don't feel you can't try it again.  You must always see visitors/interest from a postcard campaign.  So instead of doing 1 large campaign of say 10,000 postcards/flyers all at one time. Better to do them in 500 increments per week.  

Don't seem like you need to incorporate all of these at the same time. Learn how you can do each one of these and do them well. On another hand, you don't have to have perfected a product to start on another. Just way too much too many at once. Tweak each item and split test leads to see which approach works more effectively.
